Sound of the Week: ScHoolboy Q’s “Birds and the Beez”

“Turn it up and here the ghetto pledge
Live righteous nigga like my brother said
King Tut, Martin Luther, Malcolm X, but ima shoota’
Top ramen, knowledge for the noodle”

ScHoolboy Q schooled the rap game on this one and Kendrick… was Kendrick (and we mean that in a positive vein).

In the song “Birds and the Beez”, ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick discuss the wild things that happen in the projects that have become normal to them, hence birds and the bees. They reference the drugs, murder, and jailing that are all too prevalent in the hood. Overall, the two Top Dawg Entertainment artists do the track justice, with ScHoolboy Q doing his thing and Kendrick viciously attacking the instrumental.
